OUR DNA

WHO WE ARE

"Tabernacle" is an antique name for church. We are a church with a storied history and a renewed vision. We are imperfect people who have been changed by God's love and grace, and we want to share it with others.

The Greatest Commandment is to love God with all of our being. The second is to love others as we love ourselves. (Matt. 22:36-40). These two commandments summarize all of the instructions in the Bible.

Simply stated, we love God and we love people.

We're about changed lives by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We defend the big rocks of the faith.

We are cracked pots saved by grace.

We are dominos pointing others to Christ.

We dress casual but won't mind if you don't.

We like to have fun because mundane is boring.

BIG ROCKS

We unite around the "Big Rocks." We prioritize the big rocks of theology that are rooted in the unchanging authority of Scripture, not man's religious traditions. Salvation comes by God's grace through faith in Christ, not from divisive, small-rock theology squabbles.

CRACKED POTS

We are "Cracked Pots." Like clay pots, humans have cracks and imperfections. God chooses to save imperfect people to do His perfect will. Despite our weaknesses, we express our faith in action. God's love and power shine brightly through the cracks, pointing people to Jesus, not ourselves.

DOMINOS

We are dominos. God uses ordinary Christians as dominos in the process of drawing people to Himself. Dominos live intentional lives as Christ's ambassadors. They look for opportunities to show God's love, point people to Jesus, or share the Gospel in normal everyday situations, trusting God with the results.

The Tabernacle operates with a unique code of values that shape the culture
of our church, and how we choose to operate:

We Love Jesus.

We worship, follow, and obey Jesus as our prophet, priest, and king. He is our hero, our example, and our Senior Pastor.

We Are Dominos.

God uses people to reach people, and we believe that any person can be used by God, as a "domino" in His saving process.

We Are All About The Numbers.

Every number represents a life. Our lives have been changed, and we intend to change as many lives as we can.

We Will Defend The Big Rocks.

We prioritize the "Big Rocks" of Christianity (salvation through faith, baptism, authoritative/inspired scripture), leaving room for differences of opinion on secondary issues of theology.

We Are United By What We Are For.

What we are against is secondary to what we are for: Jesus, the power of His love, grace, and mercy to all men.

We Are Cracked Pots.

We are "jars of clay" that have cracks and imperfections. Saved by grace alone, we are called to show grace to others.

We Challenge Men.

Men & women are created equal, but men are called out to take responsibility for themselves, their wives, their children, and their church.

We love God And Love People.

The Great Commandment is pretty simple really, but we seek to live it out inside & outside the church.

We Are Barbarians.

We trust God & take risks, fearlessly living for the King; rejecting religion, apathy, and the safety of the American dream.

We Are About Changed Lives.

We help Seekers become Believers, teach Believers to become Followers, and challenge Followers to become Laborers.

We Give Ourselves Away.

We give generously, investing our money, time, and resources in the good works God has prepared and saved us for.

We Let The Holy Spirit Be The Holy Spirit.

We correct and rebuke on clear matters of sin, but trust God to convict and guide believers on wisdom issues.
