SPIRIT – Gifts of the Spirit

John Vermilya // May 26, 2019

The Bible teaches that every believer has been given at least one spiritual gift. These gifts are God-given abilities, super-powers if you will, to help the church. They are meant to be used in humility to serve others and glorify God. All of us need to find our gift and give that gift away.

If in the middle of the church service, the Holy Spirit gave me a word of prophecy or utterance of tongues meant for an individual in the service, should I give it? If He did this, I’m sure there would be an interpreter in the service. If I followed your protocol and had to check with you beforehand, wouldn’t I be denying my gift, quenching the Spirit, especially if the word was meant for a visitor who was desperately needing a word from God. One thing I have found out is that God usually works in a way opposite of what I think He will.

That’s a great question. You are more than welcome to ask questions of a pastor, it would be a better in person conversation than a comment thread online. Please contact us through the site to set up a time to talk!
