All of our ministries play a vital role in the health and growth of the Church. This is where friendships are born, where life is lived, and where the Church thrives. Without ministries devoted to specific stages of life, unity falters, and churches become stagnant. Check out the ministry areas we have to offer and get connected!

TabKids is a ministry within The Tabernacle providing a safe, secure and exciting environment with core curriculum designed for children from newborn through 6th grade. Each age group will learn the same story; however geared toward their individual ages. They learn that they are created and loved by God and that Jesus is their friend. This way families can learn about Jesus and grow together!

TabKids Nursery: Ages newborn through two years. We provide a loving team to care for your young children, read bible stories and do age-appropriate activities.

TabKids First Look: Ages three through Preschool. We begin to introduce children to the core elements of a church service. We do this through storytelling, worship and crafts.

TabKids 252: Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Based off from Luke 2:52, we strive to teach children three main truths; that we can trust God with everything all of the time, we need to make wise choices and that we need to treat others as we want to be treated. Along with worship and storytelling, we use a large group/small group process to deepen their knowledge while we work to create relational and life skills.

TABKids Ignite: 4th grade through 6th grade.

TabKids Unlimited: While working closely with the parents of special needs children, we develop a plan to include children in the way best suited to their individual needs.

The Firehouse Student Ministries

“The Firehouse is an area where students from 7th-12th grade get to “hang,” play games, have engaging worship, and hear dynamic teaching, all relevant to what they’re going through today. Firehouse is split up into two groups: Ablaze and Inferno. Ablaze is for 7th-9th grade and meets on Wednesdays at the Firehouse from 6-8pm. Inferno is for 10th-12th grade and meets Wednesdays in T1 from 6-8pm.

Anywhere between 70-100 students will pass through the Firehouse doors from Buckley, Mesick, Kingsley and other neighboring communities. We have committed volunteer leaders along with our Student Ministries Pastor that are all about feeding our students, teaching our students, and developing our students to be leaders at the Firehouse and in the community.  Many of our students answer the “Firehouse Call,” helping those in the community with our Outreach programs as well as teaming up with the Freedom Builders ministry.

Throughout the year, students connect and grow through service projects, winter retreats, summer retreats, youth summits with various churches in Northern Michigan, day trips to Sleeping Bear Dunes, “movie nights” in Traverse City, trips to Crystal Mountain, Lake Michigan, and various other prime locations right here in our back yard.”

Stay up to date on everything going on with The Firehouse on their Facebook page!

Tab Women is a ministry at The Tabernacle that strives to help you get to know and connect with other women and grow deeper in your faith.
The most exciting event each year for Tab Women is our annual retreat. These are held in the spring over a weekend and almost 100 ladies of all ages attend each year. If you get an opportunity to speak to ladies who have attended in the past, you will hear how impactful and fun these retreats are.
Whether it is in a small group settings or gathering at our retreat in times of worship and teaching, we strive to always create an environment that is welcoming, authentic and fun. Please take a chance and try us out. Contact Darcey Vermilya at for study times and any other questions you may have.

Fight Club (Men's Ministry)

Fight Club is a no-holds-barred ministry that trains men to tackle the issues that we all struggle with on a daily basis. Whether new to church or a seasoned veteran, Fight Club will challenge a man to fight the good fight of the faith, and to connect with a brotherhood who will have his back. Fight Club meets on Thursday nights during the school year from 7-9PM.

TABHome Groups

Looking to get involved with a smaller group of people? Check out our TABHome Groups page here! With groups forming around couples, families, new christians, college age, or north of 50,  there’s a group that fits into your life.  Each TABHome Group lasts 6 weeks, after which you have the option to join another group or continue with the same one! TABHome Groups is still the greatest way to get connected to The Tabernacle and form life changing relationships with people who are walking through the same issues you are.

The mission of The Tabernacle is to Love God and Love People, and to go and make disciples. With this mission in mind, the Outreach Ministries of The Tabernacle seek to be the hands and feet of Jesus, locally in our community as well as globally, with our partnership with ministries in Haiti.

We believe that serving in community is important, that by doing so we follow the example that Christ set down for us. Outreach Ministries impacting our local community include The Tabernacle Community Food Pantry, open to anyone in need Wednesdays from 3-6 pm and Saturdays 9-noon. The Food Pantry is located at 205 Pine dr. in Buckley.

We believe in making disciples for the Kingdom of God, and seek to do accomplish this not only within local community, but also internationally. The Tabernacle has partnered with missionaries with Global Partners in Haiti. Beyond financial support of missionaries on the ground in Haiti, we believe that it is important to have a presence in this country, and that discipleship happens among The Tabernacle team members, as well as with Haitian nationals.
